Dr Magdi Hanna is a globally well known, leading authority on pain relief and has been one of the founding pioneers of pain relief clinics in the UK. In addition to myriad professional and academic responsibilities to Kings College Hospital and Pfizer Corporation, Dr Hanna is very much engaged in the area of global research for the treatments (and pharmaceutical developments) of diverse degenerative illnesses. Hence his awareness and keen interest in the development of stem cell therapies and treatments.

Dr Alan Boyd is an acknowledged pharmaceutical physician and expert in all phases of drug development across a number of therapeutic areas. He began his pharmaceutical career with Glaxo Group Research Limited and then became Head of Medical Research at AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals. 

Dr Boyd is a Fellow of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine, Royal College of Physicians and is also Chairman of the Specialist Advisory Committee in Pharmaceutical Medicine for the Faculty.  This Faculty oversees all activities across the UK relating to the training of doctors in the Pharmaceutical Industry.

As a doctor, Dr Boyd is highly supportive of the non-invasive procedures of BioEDEN’s method of obtaining stem cells and is also actively involved in progressing the involvement of BioEDEN within research and development of stem cell therapy in the UK.

 

Dr John A. Hunt D.Sc. Ph.D.

Dr Hunt has been in this field of research for the last 19 years, with over 90 scientific publications, obtained his D.Sc. entitled “Cell Material Homeostasis” in 2006.  Associate Editor for Biomaterials, Subject Editor for Biomaterials in “Current Opinion in Solid State and Materials Science”,  and on the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Adipose Tissue (IJAT).  He is a member of steering committee for the N8 Northernway intiative in regenerative medicine and is also a member of a number of EU research council grant review panels. Research focuses on the assessment of the cellular and molecular mechanisms of biocompatibility and tissue engineering, addressing the key areas of primary cell sourcing, controlling cell function and phenotype by substrate interactions, angiogenesis and inflammation.  The research is global and encompasses both industrial and academic partners.  In Europe, Clinical Engineering is the Scientific Co-ordinator of STEPS an Integrated Programme of research in Framework VI with 23 European partners to take a systems approach to Tissue Engineering.
